Information for Employers

The Animal Industries Resource Centre has had a proven and highly respected reputation working with the Veterinary and Animal Care Industries for nearly twenty years. As a leading Registered Training Organisation, we recognise and uphold the standards required for Veterinary Nurses and Animal Carers. We ensure we deliver the most up to date information, assessment methods and learning environment to all our students.

Employing a Trainee

A traineeship is a structured training and paid employment arrangement that involves a contract between the employer, the government and the trainee. Apprentices and trainees are employed under a government-approved training agreement, which is a legal commitment. Employers of trainees are required to allow time from normal day-to-day tasks to participate in set training sessions and course work. The employer may be responsible for additional tuition fees due to the funding levels payable to training organisations.

Employer Responsibilities

  • Provide workplace duties and tasks suitable to support the students training
  • Provide a person to act as mentor who will guide, encourage and inspire the student to make the most of their studies. A mentor should hold the same qualification (or higher) as the one being studied
